UNA’s 1st Official Calgary Pride Parade

“You can’t have rainbows without a little rain” was the  Calgary Pride Parade website slogan on the rainy morning of September 6th. That afternoon, more than twenty UNA members from Locals 1, 121 & 115 braved the weather and marched in Calgary’s 25th annual Pride Parade.

This marked the first time that UNA marched under it’s own banner in the parade.

Nurses showed leadership by supporting social justice. Some even networked with politicians at the NDP float in front of the UNA group in the parade.

Even the pooches came out to show their pride.

Will you come and show your colours with us next year?

  1. Just so members are aware, UNA has participated in the Pride Parade for the last nine years. We have always been proud to wear our UNA pinnies and wave our flag. This however was the first year the Calgary UNA locals came out in force joining together to support the parade. Thanks so much to all the locals and members for participating. Pride in numbers! Let’s do it again next year and bring more members!
