A few members at the AGM banquet asked me to share my revised lyrics to the song "I Will Survive" I had on my t-shirt. I hope you enjoy them. I’m sure there are other versions out there waiting to be written to this song or another. UNA members are known for being creative and fiesty so feel free to share your version if your inner songwriter is itching to be set loose.
UNA Will Survive
(to the tune of "I Will Survive")
At first we were afraid, we were petrified.
Kept thinking we could never live without UNA by our side.
But then we spent so many nights thinking how AHS did us wrong,
And we grew strong, and we learned how to get along.
And so you’re back from stuffing your face.
We walked in to find you here with cookie crumbs upon your face.
We should have changed our phone number.
We should have made you leave a voice mail,
If we’d known for just one second you’d call us every day!
We’re going now, walking out the door.
Won’t turn around now ’cause we just can’t work anymore.
Weren’t you the one who tried to poke us in the eye?
Did you think we’d crumble, did you think we’d lay down and die?
Oh no, not us, we will survive.
As long as we know how to nurse, patients will stay alive.
They’ve got all their life to live, we’ve got all our skills to give.
We will survive.
We will survive!
