National Nurses United (the largest union and professional association of RN’s in the US) recently launched a new campaign called “Insist on a Registered Nurse.” This is, in part, a response to a dangerous trend in the US corporatized hospital industry of deskilling nursing care, replacing registered nurses with computers and pushing patients out of in-patient hospital care prematurely or keeping them out of in-patient hospital care altogether. Obviously, this is a global trend.
