The member and supporter turnout was amazing and the public reaction was incredible. People actually stopped their cars, rolled down their windows, and asked for brochures. After the rally as I was packing stuff up in my car a CBC news van stopped me and asked for an interview. There was only a handful of us there but we did the best we could to recreate the event and he took some video as well. I’ll let you know if I can find it.

I am extremely proud of all our fellow members, their families and friends, and the other health care allies who came out today. Please pass on many thanks to your staff in public relations for contacting media and raising awareness.

Local 62 Vice President

The nurses of Leduc, held an information rally at Leduc Common today and made the 6pm headline news on Edmonton CTV! Please tune in tonight at 1100 or 1130 or check the story out on [ http://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/video ]http://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/video. (you may have to wait thru a couple of ads and a story about the Edmonton Municipal Airport, but it is there!)

There were at least 50 nurses from Leduc locals 62, 170, and 194 with some supporters from 196 handing out pamphlets and talking to people while they waited at traffic lights. They made UNA proud! Yesterday may have been Black Friday but today was White Saturday with all of them in our white toques and RN pins!
