Provincial health care cutbacks have nurses seeing white

From the Lethbridge Herald:

Short staffing levels for registered nurses (RNs), coupled with layoffs earlier this year, has led to a new initiative by the United Nurses of Alberta (UNA).

And local members took it out to 10 Avenue South in front of Chinook Regional Hospital Wednesday afternoon, at least a dozen strong at all times as they rotated through their lunch breaks.

“Wear White” Wednesdays is being enacted by UNA in protest of job losses to registered nursing positions across the province. RNs are being encouraged to sport white, as they used to be recognized through their white uniforms and hats.

My apologies to everyone for missing the past few days’ news summaries, owing to a high volume of time-sensitive work. Back to normal soon, I hope. A great weekend to everyone!
