Message from President Michelle Senkow
As September welcomes us and back to school begins, disasters surround us. Our hearts are with those that will be starting their lives again after the devastation.
I hope you had a nice summer and were able to get some time off.
Many of the units at Local 115 are suffering from staffing shortages and crunches. It is very important that as you take care of your patients – you also take care of yourself. You are entitled to overtime as per the contract and you are also entitled to time off. Many staff call us saying that they receive calls on their days off asking them to work more hours. Let us know if this continues when you ask them to stop.
The vicious cycle of working more – getting run down – getting sick goes round and round. Please take of yourself – so that you can care for your patients. Please call us if your rights are not being respected.
Patient and staff safety are vital- read your UNA binder for information on your Professional Responsibility Committee, Occupational Health and Safety Committed and Grievance Committee in Local 115.
